Kill Your Idols

Starting in late ‘95 with vocalist Andy West and guitarist Gary Bennett, and Influenced by early Hardcore Punk groups like Black Flag, 7-seconds, Minor Threat, & Negative Approach, NY’s Kill Your Idols embraced the DIY ethics of punk culture and quickly carved out a place in it’s longstanding history by touring constantly and releasing music. It wasn’t long before KYI was signed to Blackout! Records, and then eventually Side one dummy records. After about 7 yrs of touring and releasing music, KYI broke up in 2007, after a run of final shows in the US & Europe. KYI played its “last show” in a parking lot on Long Island. 

KYI was resurrected in 2013 at the “Black & Blue Bowl” and has continued to exist, playing select shows around the US & Europe. Tragically in 2020, KYI lost their long time drummer and friend Vinnie Value, known also for playing in WARZONE, NO REDEEMING SOCIAL VALUE, and GREY AREA. This nearly broke the band up again, but the decision was made to continue with new drummer Anthony Corallo (Concrete Cross, Sheer Terror). In 2022, KYI released a split 7” with fellow Long Islanders RULE THEM ALL, on Flatspot records. This release featured 2 brand new songs, the first KYI had released in 16 years.
KYI has had many lineup changes over the years, with Andy & Gary being the continuing original members. The current line-up is a mixture of old & new:
